We know who our providers are
Every provider on Techmatcher has a verified account linked to real contact information. Anonymous listings are not allowed — providers stand behind their identity.
Our Independent Technicians — independent technicians who come to your home or office — are required to complete a criminal background check (national + county records + sex offender registry) before they ever appear in your search results. We use Checkr, a nationally recognized background check platform trusted by companies like Lyft and TaskRabbit.
Business providers go through a profile review before they are activated on the platform. The admin team can suspend or remove any provider at any time.
Your personal info stays private — until you decide otherwise
When you search for help, providers never see your phone number or home address. That information is hidden behind what we call the Handshake system.
Here’s how it works: you initiate contact on your terms. You and a provider exchange messages inside the platform. Only after you explicitly confirm the engagement do we unlock contact details — and only then does the provider see your phone number and address. Not before.
Providers cannot cold-call you, email you, or reach you outside the platform until you choose to share that information.
You are always in control — including your money
Browsing and messaging providers is completely free. No payment is collected until you decide to confirm a booking — what we call a Handshake. Until that moment, you can close any conversation and walk away with no charge and no obligation.
Deposits and how they work:When you confirm a booking, a deposit is collected to secure your appointment and protect the provider’s time. For Independent Technicians, the deposit is collected upfront at confirmation. For business providers, a deposit is collected when the engagement is formally committed. In both cases, the deposit amount is shown to you clearly before you confirm.
If you need to cancel: We understand things change.
- →If you cancel a Gig booking, the deposit is refunded to your Techmatcher account as store credit, minus a small platform fee that compensates the provider for holding the appointment.
- →If you cancel a business provider booking, you receive a full deposit refund as store credit.
- →If a provider cancels on you, you always receive a full refund — no deductions, no questions asked. Their cancellation is never your problem.
Store credits apply automatically to your next booking. And if you want a refund, we can process that for you. The platform keeps a complete record of every payment, agreement, and service commitment for your protection.
Techmatcher has skin in the game
We’re not a faceless marketplace. Techmatcher is a locally focused platform built to serve home users, small businesses, and nonprofits — people who need to trust the help they get, not just find the cheapest option.
Our admin team actively monitors the platform. Providers who generate complaints or fail to meet our standards are removed. We carry platform-level business insurance to back that commitment.
Providers who complete our full vetting process earn a background-checked badge visible on their profile. What you see is what has actually been verified.
