About Techmatcher

Our Approach

Technology is essential to everyday life — but finding trustworthy, affordable help when something goes wrong is still too hard. We built Techmatcher to change that.

The problem we set out to solve

A senior finds her laptop won’t start in the morning. A small nonprofit struggles to figure out why its office Wi-Fi keeps dropping. A home user receives a scary-looking pop-up warning and has no idea if it’s real. A remote worker has no helpdesk to assist them when they can’t connect to the office VPN.

These are not unusual situations. But for anyone who didn’t grow up with technology, or who simply has more important things to learn than network troubleshooting, finding the right help feels impossible. A Google search returns national chains, anonymous Craigslist ads, and forum threads written in jargon. How do you tell a good provider from a bad one? How do you even describe what’s wrong if you don’t know the right words?

Meanwhile, there are talented, qualified local tech professionals in every neighborhood — people who are great at what they do, but who struggle to reach the clients who need them most.

Techmatcher exists to close that gap.

Describe it in your own words — we handle the rest

You shouldn’t need to know whether you have a “DNS configuration issue” or a “router firmware problem” to get help with your internet. You just need to be able to say: “My Wi-Fi keeps dropping out and I don’t know why.”

Our matching engine reads what you write — in plain English — and translates it into the technical skills your situation actually requires. It then finds local providers whose expertise fits your need, ranks them by how well they match, and surfaces the ones most likely to help you first.

No dropdowns with technical jargon. No checkboxes for services you’ve never heard of. Just tell us your tech headache.

Start with a plain-English description of your problem — no technical knowledge required.

Narrow your match in seconds

After you describe your problem, we show you a set of technology categories — things like “Networking,” “Computer Hardware,” or “Smart Home.” Tap the ones that feel relevant. This step is optional, but when you select a category, your results become sharper — providers who specialize in that area rank higher.

You can also tell us where you need the work done: at your home, your office, the provider’s location, or remotely. And you can set a search radius — from 2 miles to 50 — so your results always reflect who is actually reachable.

Optional category tiles and location preference sharpen your results — no tech knowledge needed to use them.

Local first — always

National tech marketplaces focus on volume. Techmatcher prioritizes proximity. Every search begins with your zip code and expands outward — because the right provider is more valuable if they can actually show up, and a local professional has real accountability in ways a national call center cannot.

We want every person who uses Techmatcher to find someone in their neighborhood — someone who can look them in the eye, shake their hand, and stand behind their work. That’s what we call the Perfect Handshake: a real connection between a real person who needs help and a real expert who can provide it, close to home.

Your results show how far each provider is from your search area, and providers marked Recommended are the ones whose skills most closely matched your description. You can save any provider to compare later, or reach out directly through the platform.

Two kinds of help — you choose what fits

Not every tech problem is the same, and not every tech professional works the same way. We support two types of providers:

  • Local Business Providersare established IT firms and consultancies with track records in your area. They offer customized service scopes, variable pricing, and are well suited to ongoing relationships, multi-issue engagements, or situations where the solution isn’t fully defined yet.
  • Independent Techniciansare individual professionals who have completed our onboarding process — including a criminal background check — and offer platform-curated services at fixed, upfront prices. You always know exactly what you’re paying before anyone shows up.

Your search results show both types, clearly labeled, so you can make an informed choice based on your situation. Click any provider card to see their full profile — services, skills, ratings, and badges — before you reach out.

Every provider has a full profile — services offered, skills, community recognition badges, and a direct way to reach out.

Who we built this for

Techmatcher was designed specifically for the people most underserved by existing options:

  • Seniors and home users who want trustworthy, patient help and don’t want to feel talked down to
  • Small businesses without a dedicated IT department — restaurants, retailers, professional services, and trades
  • Nonprofits operating on tight budgets who need reliable, affordable tech support

We deliberately chose not to build a platform for enterprise IT buyers, software developers, or corporate procurement departments. There are plenty of options for them. We built this for everyone else.

Structured to protect you at every step

Every interaction on Techmatcher follows a structured lifecycle — from initial search to confirmed service — because we believe the process itself is part of the protection.

You browse providers anonymously. You message through the platform. Your phone number and home address are never shared until youexplicitly confirm an engagement. No provider can cold-contact you. No payment is collected while you’re still deciding.

Independent Technicians pass a background check before they ever appear in your results. Business providers are reviewed by our admin team before activation. Every engagement ends with a mutual rating so the community stays informed.
